2022 One Act Play Festival, Erin Arts Centre, Port Erin
Thursday 3rd March
“The Droitwich Discovery” by Nick Warburton – Rushen Players
Not Stratford, but Droitwich, not just Shakespeare but a Tudor Shakespeare with soliloquy and dialogue as exciting as would be expected, if not quite as predictable, on a day out for four theatre lovers.
“All by Myself” by Robert Scott – The Service Players
Larry has been shipwrecked on a desert island for 7 years all on his own. Or so he thought – his space becomes rather crowded as he finds he wasn’t alone after all.
“The Musicians” by Patrick Marber – Stage One Drama School (Youth entry)
The orchestra of Rilley Road, a state school is to give a concert in Moscow at the European Festival of Youth. Their instruments are impounded by customs but luckily Alex, the Russian Janitor, comes up with a plan to save the day.
Miss Lipton’s class always presents an outstanding Nativity play. We meet the members of her class and their funny, heart-warming preparations for the festive production.
“The Lover” by Harold Pinter – Hog the Limelight
To all outward appearances Richard and Sarah are a respectable married couple. Behind closed doors however, the couple enjoy a surprising and intriguing arrangement. We find out how this couple have found an unconventional way to cope with extra-marital temptation.
