The competition is open to Manx residents aged 13 to 19 years old.
This year’s competition is on Saturday 30th March 2024 at Ballakermeen Studio Theatre from 1-5pm.
Doors open at 12:30pm.
Tickets £5 on the door.
Refreshments will be available.
For 2024 there will be one single round where competitors have been asked to perform a theatrical response to the theme of “Our Story”. Considering the viewpoint of a storyteller – ‘Your story, My story, Our Story”.
Some entrants have devised their own 10 minute programmes. While others are following a format of 2 contrasting pieces, whether monologues or through song.
Our youngest competitor this year is 13 years old with the others ranging to 17 years old.
Winners receive a £500 bursary towards a drama related activity of their choice – many using the monies to attend prestigious theatre schools in the UK and one winner more recently using their bursary to fund training for a diploma in Musical Theatre teaching.
Many of YAOM past winners have gone on to perform in British Television, to name Lisa Kreisky& Tony Eccles who both recently received NODA East awards (National Operatic & Dramatic Awards) for their performances in The Choral Union’s Young Frankenstein performed at the Gaiety Theatre.
